What woods do you work in?

Mostly domestic hardwoods: white oak, cherry, walnut, maple and ash, plus mahogany, teak for outdoor work, and reclaimed timber when the piece calls for it.

Where do you deliver?

Chris delivers and installs across Long Island, New York City and southern Connecticut, and ships further afield by arrangement.

Every commission starts with a conversation about the room, how the piece will be used, and the wood. Chris draws the piece, sources the lumber, and builds it in his Oakdale shop with proper joinery: mortise and tenon, dovetails, breadboard ends, turned and laminated parts made on the premises. Finishes are rubbed out by hand.

Over twenty years the shop has produced trestle and turned-leg dining tables for families on the south shore, refectory tables and quadrangle benches for a Gothic university campus, curved and upholstered rockers, tambour credenzas, live-edge slab tables, parquetry tops and a great deal of seating. The portfolio shows much of it in progress, because the joinery is the point.

Custom furniture from a Long Island maker costs more than a catalogue piece and lasts several lifetimes longer. Lead times run from a few weeks for a small piece to a season for a dining set.
