Furniture Restoration & Antique Repair on Long Island
Old furniture rebuilt properly: loose joints re-glued, broken parts remade in matching wood, veneers and carvings repaired, and finishes conserved rather than stripped.

Restoration uses every skill in the shop. The portfolio shows a carved antique cabinet being rebuilt from its carcass out, a set of splat-back chairs with new parts cut to the old pattern, a table top with a burn repaired in matching oak, re-caned and re-webbed seats, and a Windsor bench put back into daily service.
The approach is conservative: keep everything original that can be kept, replace only what has failed, match the wood and the grain, and finish so that the repair disappears into the age of the piece. Where a client wants a full refinish, that is done by hand, not with a dip tank.
Chris also repairs and refinishes kitchen cabinetry and built-ins, and adapts antique pieces for modern use: a dresser as a vanity, an armoire as a media cabinet, a farm table brought back to a height you can eat at.
Questions
Before you ask
- Will restoration hurt the value of an antique?
- Not if it is done conservatively. Structural repair and finish conservation preserve value; aggressive stripping and refinishing can destroy it. Chris will tell you which your piece needs.
- Do you pick up and deliver?
- Yes, across Suffolk and Nassau Counties, and by arrangement in New York City and Connecticut.
- Can you match a missing chair to a set?
- Yes. Making one or two chairs to complete a set is common work for the shop.
